P.J. D'Amico

P.J. D’Amico brings twenty years of experience to the nonprofit sector where he particularly enjoys serving as bridge, linking philanthropy to grassroots service and leadership to community impact. PJ has crisscrossed the sector as an executive director, program officer in philanthropy, development officer, board member and advocate for social change at both the local and national level. As an associate with Rich Male and Associates, PJ prides himself on being a generalist with extensive fundraising, development and philanthropic experience who can help nonprofit leaders develop the comprehensive toolbox necessary to be successful.

PJ gained much of his initial experience working as a grassroots community organizer in Atlanta where he worked with Jimmy Carter’s Atlanta Project and Hands On Atlanta. PJ was a member of the 1993 Summer of Service which served as a pilot to the AmeriCorps National Service Movement. PJ went on to become the National Director of AmeriCorps Alums whose mission it was to build a national platform for civic engagement among 450,000 National Service Alumni.

PJ presently serves a Program Officer with the Buck Foundation, Board Co-Chair of CityWild, an outdoor wilderness education program for students in North East Denver, and most recently led a successful capital campaign for Shadow Theatre Company. PJ is a member of the Colorado Association of Funders, the Colorado Progressive Coalition and the Philanthropic Community Organizing Collaborative.

PJ received both a Bachelor Science and Master of Theological Studies degree from Emory University and most recently his Master of Nonprofit Management from Regis University. PJ received the Colorado Trust Fellowship and has served as an adjunct college instructor and guest lecturer at both the college and graduate level.

PJ has considerable experience coaching organizations to grow their vision to scale by building strong stakeholder investment coupled with sound strategic planning. PJ’s experience as a program officer at both a family foundation and community foundation make him particularly adept at crafting fundraising plans that align the needs of an organization with the interests and expectations of key donors.

PJ understands the role of a nonprofit consultant as that of a partner who helps organizations and people discover within themselves the clarity, power and strategy to make positive and lasting change.

From time to time, PJ moonlights as a fly fishing guide where he enjoys waving a stick over fast moving water.
