Shea Swerdlin

Shea brings over 20 years experience to Richard Male & Associates (RMA) in the non profit, local and federal government arenas working in the areas of resource and program development, research, grant writing/management and communication.

Shea was Director of Planning and Development for the Boulder Housing Authority (currently Boulder Housing Partners) where she was charged with the planning, financing and coordination of over 9 million dollars of affordable housing acquisition and construction programs. As a Housing Management Specialist for HUD Denver Regional office, she provided oversight, technical assistance and grant funding coordination to local Housing Authorities in a six-state region. She researched and wrote policy papers as Research Specialist for Morrison Institute of Public Policy (AZ State University) that concerned local and regional issues which involved stakeholder input through town halls and state-wide focus groups. Shea has also worked with non-profit organizations as a Development Consultant for the past 5 years in the areas of resource development and fundraising including grant writing, research, and strategically positioning organizations to maximize their fund raising potential. In her tenure as a professional grant writer and program manager, Shea has brought many millions of dollars in grant funding to non-profit and quasi-governmental organizations.

Shea has a Masters in Public Administration (MPA) degree from AZ State University, a Bachelors of Arts in Anthropology and Linguistics from the University of VA and a nearly completed graduate degree in Counseling Psychology from Naropa University in Boulder, CO.

Shea currently volunteers as a Board member of St. Benedict’s Health and Healing Ministry, the Colorado Haiti Project and the Boulder Valley School District. She has led a work team to South Africa for Habitat for Humanity International and lived and studied in India.

When Shea is not working with non profit organizations, she is dancing, cooking ethnic foods and mothering her two delightful children. Shea also enjoys the beauty and challenges of the Rocky Mountains through hiking, biking and cross-country skiing with her family.
