Stuart
Halpern brings to
Richard Male & Associates over
25 years experience in the financial arena. His particular expertise
is in the nonprofit sector. As a consultant, he has the ability
to quickly establish sound financial management practices and
principles for any business.
Currently, Stuart is consulting to organizations
that include Community Resource Center (CRC), and the Qwest Foundation.
He began his career as controller to the Park East Mental Health
Center in northeast Denver . The center was suffering a half million-dollar
loss with a budget of $1.8 million and 45 employees. Within seven
years, the Center had over 100 employees with a $3.5 million dollar
budget – it was also operating at a $500,000 profit. Stuart was
responsible for increasing revenue from Medicaid, Medicare and
insurance billings and collections. He also reduced inpatient and
operating costs to turnaround the fiscal health of the Center.
At Human Services, Inc., Stuart instituted improved financial reporting
which resulted in greater financial control and faster turnaround
of board and management decisions.
Stuart spent the next eight years working with the Community Resource
Center (CRC) an organization committed to grassroots initiatives
involving people of color, people with disabilities and those suffering
environmental and social justice issues. At CRC, Stuart established
sound financial systems, turned a $35,000 deficit into a sizable
surplus. He continues to work with the organization with cost analysis
models and strategic analysis for program and financial operations.
Stuart then joined GrantSeeker.com a start-up company that had
been financed by venture capital funds. He was responsible for
management of the finances at every level as well as interfacing
with the investors' financial experts. He prepared the financial
reports for both the Board of the company and for the presentations
given for additional funding for the company. The downturn in the
economy resulted in a Chapter 7 filing by the company and he has
continued to consult to them during the period of closing the business
and dissolving all assets.
Stuart is an active sportsman and has led
rafting expeditions throughout the southwest. He also worked with
a start-up travel company for three years leading trips throughout
the United States , Mexico and Canada . Since 1985, he has also
been an instructor for the National Sports Center for the Disabled
in Winter Park , Colorado , as well as, the Disabled American Veterans
ski clinic. Stuart resides in Denver , Colorado. He has a BSBA
from the University of Colorado . You can contact Stuart at stuart@richardmale.com. |
