The Vital 90% - Before and After the Proposal

Much is made of the grant, the grantwriting process and the arcane mysteries surrounding "grantseeking." In actuality the grant is only 10% of the successful process. During this daylong training, you will learn the "10 Habits of Highly Successful Grantseekers" plus examine the many steps, before and after the grant is submitted.

Making the Ask

"I'll do anything for this organization, just don't ask me to ask for money!" Ever heard that comment? This one to two hour training breaks down the process into simple, non - threatening, non fear inspiring steps so your best potential "askers" can bring new support to your organization. Light, entertaining (and motivating), this presentation can be extended to a half day by coordinating with local funders for critique and "asking" role-play.

The Strategic Fundraising Plan

The strategic fundraising plan is the cornerstone successful non-profits can be built upon. Key to successful funding, a properly structured plan can motivate and direct your board, staff and funders. A full-day workshop covers the overall development of fundraising plans for any type of organization looking for funding. Specific planning sessions can be custom designed, and executed for your organization's needs.

Successful Selling Skills

A full-day workshop dealing with the skills necessary in an ever-changing market. Fundraising can be seen as successful selling done by great sales people. We explain how sales techniques have been unfairly maligned, and, with some minor modification, show how to make them work for you and your organization.

Should you even try to "play in the big leagues?" A half-day workshop looks at the real facts about national foundations. Examples show how they differ from other funding sources and let you determine if your organization is ready to approach them.

Nothing can be more confusing than determining which corporate "pocket" you might find funding. Should you approach small businesses, entrepreneurs, or giant corporations? We will help you discover how a little knowledge of marketing can bring you needed funds.

Session I - Venture Philanthropy

There is much talk today about the "new wealth" in our country. This session examines individuals, in three categories, who may be potential funders. This includes "old, or established wealth," the much-publicized "millionaire next door," and the greatly publicized "new wealth." Who are "social venture philanthropists" and what do they fund?

Session II - Earned Income

Can your non-profit earn income to support your work? This often-unexplored resource can provide significant income for some non-profits. We look at possible funding streams and what they might mean for you and your organization.

~Public Dollars / Private Funding~

Governments and government related agencies find themselves in a new and confusing world world of fundraising formerly inhabited only by traditional non-profits. Municipalities and their libraries, schools, parks, youth and recreation departments, as well as fire and emergency services departments still need to look at fundraising in a different fashion than non-profits. This full-day session is a primer on overcoming the problems associated with public funding and shows how to maximize the advantages government agencies have in looking for private sector funding.

~The Annual Appeal~

The annual appeal provides non - restricted funding needed by every organization. This half-day session explores how to use mail campaign techniques that really work and are much different than traditional "direct mail."  The heart of this training is the successful C-PET Annual Appeal process. Successfully employed by hundreds of organizations internationally, this training will show you how to employ Constituency Building (C), Fully Personal Letters (P), Empathetic Content (E) and Timely Execution (T) in executing a successful annual campaign. This training can also be done, in condensed fashion, in a one or two hour session.

~Planned Giving - The Basics~

Planned giving means - what? There are many varieties and possibilities, all confusing. This one-hour talk presents a layman's first look at this confusing topic. Non-technical and non-biased it will allow you to make further investigation should planned giving be right for your organization.
