Organizational DevelopmentThese workshops are designed to help anyone seeking to understand what it takes to set up a non-profit agency and to plan for effective organizational development. ~501(C)(3) Non-profits for Governmental Entities~These can be presented in a half-day or full-day training model: Part I: Why start a 501(c)(3) non-profit? There are four reasons why government organizations may wish to start a non-profit, and at least three reasons why such organizations should be avoided. Each is explored, drawing on the trainer's expertise and real life examples of other organizations. Alternatives to the non-profit are explored and attendees will learn how to discern their best course. Part II: Next Steps This full day is for those Governmental Entities who have decided to begin a 501(c)(3). This advanced training walks you through the necessary steps and overviews the paperwork required and the implications of incorporation. ~Stages Of Non-profit Development~Well, just exactly where are you now - as an organization? A half-day seminar examining the three phases of non-profits: Early days (starting-up), Survival Mechanisms (governance and systems), and, finally the Institutional Stage. Understanding "where you're at" allows you to see how to best meet the challenges and find the resources for each phase. You will look at fund development, management, and leadership styles and strategies learning how to avoid conflict and assure growth at each evolution. ~Board and Leadership Development~Presented in a half-day or full-day training: Part I: Board DevelopmentThe Board! Ask any one from staff or board, about an organization's major concern and (right after funding) they will reply - The Board. Without a great Board there will never be a great organization. This seminar addresses what the Board should do and how they should do it. Hard-nosed and opinionated it will cause Board members to carefully examine their jobs. Job descriptions, the board manual, fundraising, expectations, recruiting, the work process and committees and subcommittees are all covered. Part II: Volunteer DevelopmentHow to gain and best use volunteers for your organization, whether they serve Board committees or the organization as a whole, is an increasing problem. This will show effective techniques to recruit, use and retain. ~The Non-profit Today~A half day exploration of what constitutes a successful non-profit today. New ways to better accomplish your mission with something for long time veterans and people new to the field. Board and staff will hear plain talk about today's challenges and techniques to meet them. ~Strategic Planning - Do You or Don't You?~Planning to plan - a half day to determine if your organization should embark in the often-difficult planning process. Intermediate steps and necessary preparation is discussed in detail. ~Real Leaders for Real Non-Profits~Leaders - everyone knows what they look like but no one knows how to find one. A full day to examine how real leadership can impact your non-profit. We will discuss effective approaches to bring true leadership to your organization including changes to the organization itself plus the roles of individuals. |
